Avatar: The Way of Water took the top spot at the box office again this weekend for the seventh time in a row. Check out which other films that made the top 5 at the weekend box office.
Avatar: The Way of Water starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana raked in an additional $15.7 million, which shot it well over the $600 million mark for an incredible domestic total of $620.6 million. It's now the fourth top-grossing film of all time at the global box office, with a worldwide gross of $2.074 billion, passing the $2.071 billion previously earned by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This latest success for James Cameron makes him the director of three of the four top-grossing films of all time, with Avatar at the top and Titanic in third. The second-place film is Avengers: Endgame.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish retained the second spot at the weekend box office. The animated film, featuring the voice of Antonio Banderas in the title role, took in an extra $10.6 million, earning a six-week total of $140.8 million.
A Man Called Otto starring Tom Hanks climbed up two spots this week to third place, taking in an additional $6.8 million, upping its total take to $46 million.
M3GAN, starring Allison Williams as a toy-company roboticist who builds an AI doll for her niece, dropped a spot to fourth with $6.4 million for a four-week total of $82.3 million.
Rounding out the top five was the action film Pathaan, starring India's biggest movie star, Shah Rukh Khan. It took in $5.9 million in its first weekend for a total of $8.5 million since it debuted in theaters on January 25th. ~Alexandra Heilbron
