Brooke Shields woke up in ambulance with Bradley Cooper

Glamour magazine featuring Brooke ShieldsOn September 7, 2023, while preparing at L'Artusi in New York City for her one-woman show, Previously Owned, Brooke Shields collapsed due to low sodium levels and excessive intake of water.

She recounted the incident for Glamour during her Women of the Year interview, calling the moment "surreal."

Brooke elaborated, "I was very lucky -- my husband wasn't there, my daughters were at school, and he [Bradley Cooper] was called and he was near." The A Star is Born director/star rushed to her rescue and accompanied Brooke in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

She joked with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the "Women of the Year" event on November 7, 2023, saying, "I'm okay but when I woke up in the ambulance and it was Bradley Cooper, I thought maybe I had died."

Brooke said that during the seizure, she was frothing at the mouth, turned "totally blue" and she was "trying to swallow" her tongue before everying "went black."

"The next thing I remember, I'm being loaded into an ambulance. I have oxygen on," she said. "And Bradley f**king Cooper is sitting next to me holding my hand."

Glamour reported that when Brooke's husband was called, an assistant reached out to another assistant, who called Bradley Cooper, who happened to be nearby. He and Brooke have known each other for several years, but she told Access Hollywood on the red carpet that he'd never held her hand.

Brooke told Glamour: "I thought to myself, 'This is what death must be like. You wake up and Bradley Cooper's going, 'I'm going to go to the hospital with you, Brooke,' and he's holding my hand. And I'm looking at my hand, I'm looking at Bradley Cooper's hand in my hand, and I'm like, 'This is odd and surreal.' I even thought about it and I was like, 'I didn't make it, did I?'" she said. "But it's okay. It's alright." ~Alexandra Heilbron

My admiration for Brooke Shields just went way up. A near death experience and she managed to find the humor in it. Wishing well.

I would also think I'd died if Bradley Cooper was in an ambulance with me, holding my hand. But then, he's not a family friend so that would be a lot more weird if it happened to me, lol.

To Paul. Brooke did NOT have a near death experience!! You're one of those who adds all kinds of drama to an event to make it sound like something that never happened at all. She had a seizure --- NOT a near death event!!! Maybe you have a perceptual problem that causes you difficulty in understanding what you read?? OR - an overactive imagination!! People like you who only take in a little bit of what they read & make up the rest are the spreaders of false rumours. READ the article -- SLOWLY. She said she thought she had died because Brad was holding her hand when she woke up in the ambulance --- (after she passed out) -- she said "everything went black" -- not that she had actually died. She also said she thought this must be what Death is like --- to have Brad holding her hand. NOWHERE in the above article does it suggest she nearly died!!! Lack of sodium and too much water caused the seizure. She passed out because she was foaming & trying to swallow her tongue -- which would have greatly reduced her oxygen supply & caused her to pass out --- not because she was dying - HAD died, or NEARLY dying. Get a grip!!!

Holy shit, Terry....you're the one who needs to get a grip. Take a chill pill already. You're going to give yourself a stroke.

Yes, Terry, Chill!! Turning purple sounds near or nearer to death,— than normal. It was a sweet comment overall, but took a wild turn with your diatribe. It cracked me up to glanced down at Sandra’s comment, because I was thinking the same thing as her!! It’s was amazing how far into detail you went to make an angry point abt a sweet, maybe a little far, but still purple, comment abt heaven having Bradly Cooper by your side (or for me it would be Jennifer Lawarence, lol). Deep breaths , Terry

Exactly, turning blue and foaming at the mouth sure sounds like a near death Experience what is wrong with you. Take time to read and try not to let your panties get in a wad.

Terry, No, she didn't die, but drinking too much water can cause hyponatremia (low sodium levels) which can kill you!

    Dear Terry, "VENT MUCH!!!"

  10. Kathleen • 11/12/2023 2:10:03 PM

You have to balance the two....Your body needs plenty of water but it also needs an ample amount of sodium... Nevertheless I am happy Brooke is fine...

Oh man!! I would be Happy to see Bradley Cooper holding my hand for support! His eyes are beautiful!! I would be sorry that he had to see me at my worse but what are True friends for!!?!! That was nice of him!! I am very glad she is doing ok!! It should bring to mind the thought “Hey, am I really prepared to die? Have I welcomed the Lord Jesus into my heart , to save me from my sins? & be assured of a place in Heaven?” Look at the options!?! heaven or Hell!?! Teresa Poling & the rest of you need to take some time to "LEARN" -- and get a basic medical education. What a bunch of drama freaks!! Some people have several seizures every day of their lives but don't die --- they are SEIZURES!!! NOT near death experiences. So --- if it makes you feel so good to over-exaggerate -- keep it up -- who cares, if you're that desperate for some excitement in your lives. Idiots & extremists are a dime a dozen obviously.

I Love Brooke Shields! She's been through a LOT, yet she can still smile, laugh and take herself lightly. Sounds like an angel to Me! Dear Terry: RELAX my friend. Life is Too Short! Cut down on the Red Bulls...or whatever. Learn to take things lightly like Miss Shields, and try to see the Mystery and Beauty in All Things. And YES, Humor too. Praise God. And all of you- see the movie 'Near Death'. It's REALLY GOOD!

terry get a grip if you swallow or near sawallow your tounge and your turning blue that is near death if they don`t act fast and clear your airway your dead very shortly this is comming from a former paramedicnow have 10 brain injury`s with to many near death experiances and 2 actuel death experiances where I was flat on the moniters and had to be shocked back to lifed back so if she says it was near deatth and she was blue it was near death

  16. Terry • 11/14/2023 11:46:54 AM

David Fales -- Communicating with someone as illiterate as you are is like walking down a blind alley with a dead end. You're another who doesn't understand what they read (Why is that not surprising??). Get this ---- it was NEVER Brooke Shields who said she had a near death experience!!!! NEVER!!! It was Teresa Poling -- one of the above commenters who originally said that!!! I suspect that whatever seizures you have had is the result of something else that's medically wrong with you --- not the result of a one time incident resulting from drinking too much water or a lack of sodium.

  17. Eli • 11/15/2023 4:50:57 AM

Terry- I’m a nurse, she actually definitely could have died, being critically low enough on sodium that she was having a seizure and foaming at the mouth is because every cell in the body requires sodium to function. Most importantly the sodium-potassium pump in every heart cell. Her heart and lungs were not functioning correctly, thus the foam in her mouth. As far as people having seizures everyday, that’s usually due to seizure disorders, like epilepsy. Or very high fever in very young children. So Brooke definitely required immediate medical attention to turn what could have been a tragedy around.

  18. Jeff • 11/15/2023 10:45:20 AM

Having a caring friend hold your hand during a frightening experience is a blessing Good for you Bradley Cooper

  19. Donna • 11/15/2023 9:30:28 PM

PLEASE! People to NOT swallow their tongue when having a seizure. It’s an old wives tale.

  20. Ryan Flynn • 11/16/2023 7:54:50 PM

Hey Terry, A near death experience is one that approaches dying. People do die from low sodium levels, and excess water consumption can exacerbate that risk. How do you know how close she was to dying? Electrolyte balances control many bodily functions, and excess water and low sodium levels in particular, can cause brain swelling, coma or death. It is one of the major causes of death in infants with severe gastrointestinal diseases. "In acute hyponatremia, sodium levels drop rapidly — resulting in potentially dangerous effects, such as rapid brain swelling, which can result in a coma and death." --Mayo Clinic So, just maybe you might want to do some research before dumping on people when you yourself don't know the fact either. Ms. Shields might very well have been near death, and had she not received rapid medical care, we don't know what the outcome might be. Very high Potassium levels can stop the heart, in fact. that is one of the methods used to end the lives of people who have been given a death sentence, (Lethal injection). Electrolyte balance is essential for survival, and depending how far from the norm it gets, the consequences can be lethal.

Terry obviously you know nothing about seizures. If they r bad you can swallow your tongue. Sometimes your salvia can get frothy and swallowed causing pneumonia. If you r around anything the jerking can cause you to hit your head on objects next to you Just something to think about before you respond in that manner

  22. Terry • 11/23/2023 10:19:27 AM

Deborah Badger --- you say I know nothing about seizures & out the other side of your mouth you say they can swallow their tongue. Are you for real??? Read the above comment by Donna. Ryan Flynn --- how do I know how close she was to dying?? She merely fainted, as she woke up in the ambulance holding Brad's hand --- she did not have to be resuscitated so she was no where near being in a coma preceding death. That's how I know. She was conscious on her own before she ever got half way to the hospital in the ambulance. If she had needed life-saving measures the paramedics in the ambulance would never had let Brad sit there & hold her hand --- they would need him out of the way so they could perform CPR or any other life saving procedures they needed to give her. Seems most of the people on this thread insist on dramatizing & horriblizing everything because -- I don't know --- maybe needing more excitement in your lives.

  23. Debra • 12/17/2023 10:03:54 AM

OMG PEOPLE, it happened, she’s FINE NOW,……Get on with YOUR LIFE. Y’all weren’t there, you don’t have ANY FACTS. LET IT GO, Thank You ??
