Joseph Gordon-Levitt tells interviewer Alexandra Heilbron that he's a big fan of director/writer John Carney's work, so he convinced him to hire him — an actor who can play guitar — rather than a musician who had never acted before for the part of Jeff in Flora and Son. He also reveals that he filmed all his scenes in Ireland, even though his character lives in Los Angeles.
