MARC ANTHONY

Date of Birth: September 16, 1968

Born in New York City as Marco Antonio Muñiz, Marc Anthony grew up listening to an assortment of salsa and rhythm and blues singers and began writing songs while still in his teens. His first hit on the charts was "Boy, I've Been Told," but Anthony first made waves when he recorded "Otra Nota" in 1993. Two years later, he reached the #1 slot on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart with "Todo A Su Tiemp" and in 1998, earned a Tropical Latin Album Grammy for "Contra La Corriente."

His English language single, "I Need to Know," was a smash hit, achieving triple platinum status. Returning to Spanish, his pop album, "Amar Sin Mentiras" and salsa album, "Valió la pena," both released in 2004, each reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. "Amar Sin Mentiras" won the 2005 Grammy Award for Latin Pop Album of the Year.

Meanwhile, Anthony also slowly began to establish himself in films as an actor, with roles in Hackers (1995) starring Angelina Jolie; Martin Scorsese's Bringing Out the Dead (1999); opposite Selma Hayak in the Showtime original film, In the Time of the Butterflies (2001); and with Denzel Washington in Man On Fire (2004).

His first lead role came when he played Puerto Rican salsa pioneer Héctor Lavoe opposite his wife Jennifer Lopez in the biopic El Cantante (2007).

Anthony, whose nickname is Skinny, has two sons with his first wife, Puerto Rican beauty queen Dayanara Torres. Cristian Anthony Muñiz was born in 2001, and Ryan Anthony Muñiz was born in 2003. He also has a daughter, Ariana, from an out-of-wedlock relationship with a New York City police officer.

Four days after his divorce became final, Anthony married Jennifer Lopez in June 2004. Their twins, Emme and Maximillian, were born in 2008. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing.
