Nicholas Hamilton Biography

One of many up-and-coming young actors, Nicolas Hamilton was born in Lismore, New South Wales, Australia, to Vicki Atkins and Craig Hamilton. His uncle, who passed away from cancer in 2011, inspired him to pursue a career in acting. His uncle loved to perform, and one time did an Elvis impersonation that made a big impression on Nicholas. It is poetic that Nicholas’ first role was in a school play where the played the part of Elvis.

Nicholas first arrived on the scene in 2013 with the short film Time, directed by Liam Connor. He was praised for his performance and won Best Actor at the Tropfest Short Film Festival.

He made his feature film debut as the son of Nicole Kidman and Joseph Fiennes in the Australian film Strangerland (2015). The following year he was in the film Captain Fantastic (2016) with Viggo Mortensen. Nicholas was nominated for Best Performance in a Feature Film – Supporting Teen Actor at the Young Artist Awards. He was also a part of the ensemble cast that received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the 2017 SAG Awards.

His star continued to rise in 2017 when he appeared in the horror film It (2017). To prepare for the role, Nicholas read the original novel and chatted with Jarred Blancard, who played Henry Bowers in the 1990 mini-series. He would also go on to reprise his role in It Chapter Two (2019).

In 2023 Nicholas appeared alongside Jared Harris in Brave the Dark (2023). The film premiered at the Heartland International Film Festival and went into limited release on January 24, 2025. That same year he appeared in The Boys spin-off series GEN V as Maverick. He played the character for four episodes.

Nicholas came out as gay at the age of 18 and currently resides in Los Angeles.
