A herd of beautiful wild horses are rounded up to be tamed. One of them, a stunning black mustang mare, is brought to Birtwick Stables, a horse and animal sanctuary, where orphaned teenager Jo Green (Mackenzie Foy) lives with her uncle. She names the mare Black Beauty and the two soon form such a close bond that when the mare is adopted, Jo can't bear it and vows to get her back.
