In the first official trailer for The 9th Life of Louis Drax, a series of images flash before our eyes, including a family watching a whale swim by in an aquarium, a mother (Sarah Gadon) hugging her son goodbye as he goes to school and a father (Aaron Paul) gently touching his son's face.

As the trailer unfolds, it's revealed that the family we've been given access to nearly suffered a great loss. The young boy, nine-year-old Louis Drax, fell off a cliff into the sea and was clinically dead for two hours. As a specialist explains, he emerged and is currently in a coma. That's when Dr. Pascal (Jamie Dornan) takes over.

As Dr. Pascal gets involved, it becomes clear that Louis' survival, and the events that preceded his fall, are highly mysterious. Compelling shots of Dr. Pascal encountering an otherworldly creature on the operating room floor and Louis submerged in a dark, jellyfish-infested body of water grip us before it's finally suggested that "Louis wasn't really an accident."
