In post-WWII Amsterdam, Joseph Piller (Claes Bang) is given the task of identifying and redistributing art stolen by the Nazis. He runs into Han van Meegeren (Guy Pearce), who is accused of not only selling stolen Dutch paintings to top Nazis, but of collaborating with them. However, Piller believes van Meegeren is innocent and sets about to prove it.
