sad, miserable lives, and poverty, and movie was somewhat slow and boring, BUT the last 5 minutes was happy

The screenplay lost the charm of Austen’s story. The casting did not capture the strength of most of the characters. The better actors such as the one who played the mom were given weak lines. But the most annoying feature was the director’s insistence on making the story dark and moody. The lack of lighting didn’t allow the actors to display their ability to express emotion as the story demands. I not only struggled to see their faces (most of the time only silhouettes) but couldn’t enjoy the details of costumes or settings. The director should have chosen a Brontë story instead. Don’t make the mistake of thinking this is how an Austen story should be shown. Watch the Emma Thompson/ Kate Winslet version, which obviously cannot be matched.

It's a snoozer. Pretenscious accents get old fast. Nothing gripping about the story or the music. Scenery was nice. Could have done without it.

The screen play does not place a good balance and development between the sisters' relationships with the men Austen intended. More focus on Elinor's than the required balance between Marianne's two men.
